How the pathways connect
Taken alone, each pathway can stall. Taken together, they hold.
Our Work
Legal access, capability development and reintegration are deeply connected. AJ Foundation seeks to bring them together so that support can begin before release and continue through the transition beyond prison.
Understanding rights. Reaching the right institutions.
AJ Foundation seeks to help people understand available legal-aid mechanisms, identify and organise legal-support needs, and reach competent institutions authorised to advise or represent them.
Capabilities that open real choices
AJ Foundation seeks to combine practical livelihood learning with foundational digital and financial capabilities, work readiness, constructive engagement and pathways to certification or further learning.
Release is a moment. Reintegration is a journey.
AJ Foundation seeks to support preparation for release and connections to documents, entitlements, employment, enterprise, family, community and appropriate post-release services.
Taken alone, each pathway can stall. Taken together, they hold.
A livelihood certificate cannot resolve an unresolved legal barrier.
Legal assistance alone may not create work, housing or social support.
A job opportunity may be difficult to sustain if identity documents, family support or practical preparation are missing.
AJ Foundation therefore seeks to begin with the person’s circumstances, consent and priorities, and connect appropriate institutions and opportunities around them.
AJ Foundation is developing its first livelihood-skilling initiative as part of the Rehabilitation & Capability Development pathway.
The proposed programme currently focuses on Electrical and Plumbing skills alongside digital and financial capability, work readiness and preparation for future livelihood opportunities.
